About Space Sarge
A hobby project by Cog and Cuppa, built to make running an army at the table less fiddly. Free to use, and free to build on: the code is released under the MIT licence, so take it, change it, share it, just keep the copyright notice with it. No claim at all is made over Games Workshop's or New Recruit's work.
It is updated when time and life allow, which is to say irregularly but with good intentions. Treat it as a helpful set of notes rather than a source of truth.
Check the rulebook before it counts. Rules change, this app lags behind them, and one hobbyist reading a PDF is no substitute for the published rules. For tournaments, matched play, or any game where the answer matters, verify it against the current official rules and your opponent.

This app is unofficial and unaffiliated. It is not endorsed by, associated with, or approved by Games Workshop. The game itself is theirs, and it is a good one — please support it by buying the rulebooks and codexes rather than treating this as a replacement for them.
No datasheets, points values or army data are bundled here. Everything you see comes from the roster file you load, which is read on your device and sent nowhere. Rules summaries are written in my own words from the freely published core rules, and the published rules decide any contested call.
New Recruit
Rosters and stratagems come from newrecruit.eu, a free army builder maintained by its own team of volunteers. This app would not exist without their export formats, and none of their work is mine.
The reader handles the common BattleScribe roster shape, so other builders that export it should work too. Data catalogues behind those builders are maintained by community volunteers, who deserve rather more thanks than they get.
Report a problem
A roster that will not load, a rule that reads wrong, or something that just looks broken. The button opens an email with the details of your setup already filled in. Attach the export that caused it if you can — it saves a lot of guessing.

Put it on your home screen
In your browser menu, choose Add to Home screen. It gets the dice icon and opens without browser chrome. Your saved army travels with it, since it is the same browser storage.
For a proper installable app, put the file on any web host and open it over https. Everything still runs in the browser with no server behind it.
Exporting from New Recruit
Open the list and choose Export. Take the JSON option for the roster itself, then export the stratagems as HTML. Save both to your phone and load them here. Files are read in the browser and go nowhere else.
If a roster looks thin
The reader handles the usual roster shapes: forces, selections, profiles, rules and costs. When something is missing it is normally absent from the export rather than unparsed.
Saved on this device
What you load is kept in this browser, so closing the tab or the app will not lose it. It never leaves the device.
Themes
Tap Theme, then Export this theme, to get a colour file you can edit in any text editor. Change the values, load the file back in, and it becomes your own theme. Share it with anyone using this app.
